The department of History in the Chaipat Saheed Pradyot Bhattacharya Mahavidyalaya founded in 2007 in the year of the establishment of the College in the name of a great martyr of Daspur who had dedicated his life and welcomed hanging for the historical freedom movement of India. So, this department has automatically owned by itself a lot of liabilities & responsibilities to expose the interest of History among the enthusiastic students of this college. At the very beginning the department was running with the students of general stream under B.A. three-year degree course in U.G. level. Gradually the number of students in this departments was increasing and students’ interest was generated to have the Honours degree in this subject. Considering the appeal of the college authority, our kind Vidyasagar University granted the affiliation to run the Honours degree in this department from the year 2010. Though the College had the lacuna of an Asst. Prof. in this department, the students and their studies were not disrupted for a single day because this department and its eminent teachers have been dedicating themselves on behalf of the students endowment and empowerment under the leadership of Moumita Dutta in association with the other teachers like Tarun Kumar Jana , Rina Dolui , Bikash Chhatik , Rampada Maity and Pranab Kr. Dian , the dept. achieved the a great success to the results of the students. Now the department is enriched with an eminent full-time Asst. Prof. Dipti Sardar and the whole team of this dept. is taking few promising activities for the students endowment and their skill enhancement. The objective of the department is not only to make students think differently but also to groom them in the way that enables them to connect the class room with the outer world. The border aim of the department is to help students to become socially aware citizens so that they can use the conceptual resources provided by the study of the distant as well as proximate past (of India and of the wider world) to better understand the universe around them and to negociate with that world in a socially responsible manner, deploying, among other things the analytical techniques offer to them by classroom teachings and cordial interactions.
