The aspiration and demand of the people, an unceasing venture of a number of stalwarts, social-workers, academicians and generous and cordial co-operation of the locality under the able leadership of late Jahar Santra – the dream of establishing an Institution of Higher Education came to reality on 26-07-2007 bearing the name Chaipat Saheed Pradyot Bhattacharya Mahavidyalaya, at Chaipat, adjacent to Gopigonj on the bank of Rupnarayan and on the confluence of Howrah, Hoogly and Paschim Medinipur.
