INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL

Overview:

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Chaipat SPB Mahavidyalaya remains actively engaged throughout the year to plan, implement and review at periodic intervals and keeps record of the quality of the teaching learning process – its structures and operative methodologies. Its mission is to keep sustainable level of improvement in the learning outcomes by practicing several academic and associated activities. The convener of the IQAC is member of the Governing Body. This empowers the convenor to directly communicate with the Body and making plan, designing (sub) committees, and doing reviews of the assigned tasks.

IQAC Vision

To promote quality culture as the prime concern of Higher Education Institutions

through institutionalizing and internalizing all the quality-enhancing and sustaining initiatives taken with internal and external support.

Objective

  • To play the role of a catalyst and develop a mechanism to promote conscious and consistent action plans to improve the academic and administrative performance of the institution.
  • To promote institutional quality enhancement and sustenance through the internalization of quality culture and institutionalization of the best practices.

 

Functions of IQAC

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is established to develop a mechanism for

systematic reviews of study programs, and to ensure quality teaching-learning, research, knowledge generation and support services. The IQAC assures the stakeholders - students, faculty, administrative staff, quality circle members, funding agencies and society in general - of the accountability and transparency in the quality management system of the institution. IQAC is actively involved in the following functions:

a) Development and application of quality benchmarks

b) Parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution;

c) Securing NBA accreditation/reaccreditation to all eligible programmes

d) Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and evolution of faculty to adopt the requisite knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process;

e) Collection and analysis of feedback from all stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes;

f) Dissemination of information on various quality parameters to all stakeholders;

g) Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles;

h) Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement;

i) Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities,

including adoption and dissemination of best practices;

j) Development and maintenance of institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality;

k) Annual review on the achievements in terms of Strategic Plan performance targets set and recommending appropriate revisions of strategies / targets.

l) Periodical conduct of Academic and Administrative Audit and its follow-up

m) Preparation and submission of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC.

n) Organise programmes for capability building on teaching pedagogy, OBE and awareness on NEP, NPTEL like initiatives.

 

Strategies

IQAC shall evolve a mechanism and procedures for:

  • Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial units
  • Adoption of relevant and quality academic and research programmes
  • Ensuring equitable access to and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of the society
  • Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning
  • Ensuring credible assessment and evaluation processes
  • Ensuring the proper allocation, adequacy and maintenance of support structure and services
  • Sharing of research findings and networking with other institutions in India and abroad

Academic Excellence

1. The convenor forms sub-committees, featured by the faculties for the smooth running of the teaching-leaning process.

2. Teachers were encouraged to join the orientation programmes hosted by the affiliating Vidyasagar University to introduce Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) pattern from the academic year 2018-2019.

3. Regular meetings of the academic subcommittees were held to orient the teachers to the modalities of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) pattern.

4. Initiatives are taken in the same manner when the concerned university introduced NEP 2020 from the academic year 2023-2024

5. The departments are encouraged to evaluate the students’’ attainment of programme outcome (PO) and course outcome (CO).

6. The departments are encouraged to conduct the Continuous Internal Assessment

7. Internal and external examination process is monitored

Research & Innovation

1.  Departments are encouraged to engage in various academic activities like seminars, invited lectures, orientation programmes, workshops etc

2. The faculties are informed the details of research orientation programmes, workshops multidisciplinary subjects etc

3. They are encouraged to research projects and submit these within the stipulated period.

Industry-Institute Integration

1.  Memorandum of Understanding are signed with academic and non-academic organizations

Student Support

1. Skill based Add-on courses are introduced to make the students employable

2. It approves the introduction of Teaching-Learning-Management system “e-shikshak”, used for uploading and accessing study materials and resources

3. In the Covid-19 pandemic period, initiatives were taken to organise online classes and conduct of examinations

4. Regular purchase of books and making the library fully automated

5. The departments are informed to organise mentor-mentee meetings

6. Seminars/Programmes are arranged to securitise the students of academic/social issues

Infrastructural Development

1. Consent has been given for the construction of new building and maintenance of the existing ones

2.  Facilities like electricity, aqua guard, solar panel, ramp, toilet cleaning, etc are monitored

3.  Wi-Fi is regularly maintained and upgraded.

 4. The classrooms are made ICT enabled with projectors and other facilities

Other Activities

1.Extension and social outreach programmes are conducted

3.The faculties are encouraged to reroll in higher studies, publish research works and are informed of seminars/workshops

4.Orientation programmes on teaching ethics, computer orientation are arranged for the faculties

5.Initiatives are taken for ISO certifications

6.Initiatives are taken for conducting Quality Audit, Green Audit, Academic Audit, Energy Audit, Environment Audit and Gender Audit as quality assurance initiatives in the institution

7.Career counselling programmes are arranged

Term and office of the IQAC members

  • The membership of such nominated members shall be for a period of three years.
  • The IQAC should meet at least twice in an academic year.
  • The minutes of the meetings and action taken reports are documented periodically
